Corporate Activities

The Weekly Bulletin is a record of applications received and actions taken by the Comptroller of the Currency on national banks for new banks, branches, mergers, conversions, changes in bank control, fiduciary powers, domestic subsidiaries, relocations of main offices and branches, federal branches and agencies, terminations, and information on notices such as changes in corporate titles and branch closings.

You can download plain text files of individual weekly bulletins by date or use the bulletin search function to find information pertaining to specific states or application types.

You may also want to try the Corporate Applications Activity Search (CAAS). CAAS allows you to search current information about new national bank branch establishment and branch closing filings over a user-selectable date range. Data is available from 1/1/2007 to the present.

Applications submitted by and decisions regarding Federal savings associations are currently not available on the Weekly Bulletin but can be found on the OTS Web site

Bulletin Contents

Most applications appear in the bulletin at least twice—once when they are received and then again when they are acted upon. Some application types appear a third time, when the transaction is consummated or the location opened. Typically, notices appear when the transactions are effective, although branch closings usually appear when the OCC receives notice of the proposed closing, as well as at final closing.

Each bulletin is a record for the seven-day period ending on the report date. The record includes receipts, actions, and consummations/openings processed during the week. Because notices are often received after the consummation or opening dates, some of the activity in the bulletin may have happened in a previous seven-day period. Additionally, filings are sometimes amended (see Addendum section) or corrected (see Correction section), so the record may include corrections to applications or notices that appeared in a previous bulletin.

Each filing is assigned an OCC control number. The control number is a unique 12-character identifier for each filing. When requesting information or discussing the application with the OCC, it is helpful to reference the control number.

Public Comments on Applications

Written comments on a corporate filing should be submitted to the District Licensing Office where the bank filed the original application. Commenters can identify the appropriate District Licensing Office by referencing the alpha code in the OCC control number (e.g. 2011SO021234). "SO" for Southern District, "NE" for Northeastern District, "CE" for Central District, and "WE" for Western District. A complete list of district contact information and a district map is available at Application Contacts. For more information, refer to the "Public Comment" section in the Public Notice and Comments (PDF) booklet in the Comptroller's Licensing Manual. The OCC will accept comments through the latter of: 1) the newspaper publication comment period end date; 2) 30 days from the publication of the merger application in the Weekly Bulletin; or 3) 30 days from the date the merger application is posted to the FOIA Reading Room.

To view the public comment period end date for a filing by a national bank for a merger, consolidation, or purchase and assumption, see the Weekly Merger Public Comment Period Report (PDF).

To view the public portion of the merger application, visit the FOIA Reading Room and search Merger Application.
