Value-Based Purchasing
The Value-Based Purchasing MAC Collaborative is assisting state Medicaid agencies in buying better value by linking quality, payment reform and care delivery models. As the largest insurer in the country in terms of covered lives, Medicaid can better leverage its value-based purchasing power to achieve higher quality at lower cost. This collaborative consists of two phases:
- PHASE ONE
Value-Based Purchasing: Integrated Care Models in Fee-for-Service Delivery- Focusing on ways to improve care and lower costs in non-risk based arrangements (e.g., primary care case management, fee-for-service). - PHASE TWO - Value-Based Purchasing: Managed Care Innovations- Working with states to design the next generation of managed care contracting requirements.
