Tips for Better Results

Overview

All the searches conducted at the database are "MATCH type" searches. That is, search scans the entire name of the contractor facility to locate textual matches.

Enter the text (i.e., "search term") you wish to search for in the search field and press the "Search" button. If you wish to change the text you wish to search for, press the "Clear" button to clear the search field and retype the text you wish to search for.

There is an alphabetical list of awarded companies available for your use. You do not have to search for the company name if you want to see the names that begin with particular letter. Click the letter and wait until search results would be displayed.

There is a facility to select the ARRA or Non-ARRA funded companies. Just select the radio buttons displayed the top of each search.

Constructing a Query

Each search (or "query") returns a list of ARRA or NON-ARRA funded Contractor Facility names sorted in ascending or descending order as you specified. To get a list of company names that contain a word "electric" you simply have to enter this string into a box. You will see all the "ACE ELECTRIC", "FRED ELECTRIC CO", "GENERAL ELECTRIC", "GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY", "GEN. ELECTRICS", and so on.

If you place a percent sign (%) between characters in your search term, the returned result will contain any name with any number of characters around that percent sign. For example, for the "%tex%inc" you will receive: "BLISTEX INC", "HEALTHTEX INC", "SYTEX INC", and many others.
