Who is sponsoring this chat?
This chat is being sponsored by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), which is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), a component of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. NIDA's mission is to lead the Nation in bringing the power of science to bear on drug abuse and addiction.

What is the purpose of this chat?
The purpose of this chat is to provide an opportunity for students and teachers in classrooms across the United States to ask questions of the Nation's top experts in the field of drug abuse and addiction. This is your opportunity to have all of your questions answered about addiction, drugs, and their effects. All questions on these topics are welcomed!

How can I ask a question during the chat?
While anyone can view the live chat, only schools that have completed advanced registration and received an access code may log-in and submit questions during the chat.

What do I need to log-in and ask questions?
To log-in, simply enter your access code and create your own username. This username will be associated with your questions automatically and will be displayed if your question is answered during the chat.

Does each student need his/her own access code?
Once registered, your school will receive a single access code that all students can use to log-in and ask questions during the chat.

Is there a limit to how many students can log-in or create usernames on chat day?
There is no limit to how many times your access code can be used by your students to log-in, and you can create as many usernames as needed throughout the day.

Are we locked into a specific time that my students or I can ask questions?
No. Your access code will allow you to log-in and ask questions from when the chat begins at 8 a.m., EST, until it concludes at 6 p.m., EST.

When will my question get answered?
We will make every effort to answer your question in a timely fashion. However, we are expecting an extremely high volume of questions throughout the day, and it could take us several hours to post a response. Please be patient, and remember that you can always check the transcript if you do not see your response posted during your class period. We will not have time to answer all questions, but we try to provide information on most topics.

Will a transcript be available after the chat is over?
