National Institute of Mental Health

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), works to transform the understanding and treatment of mental illnesses through basic and clinical research, paving the way for prevention, recovery, and cure. NIMH’s Office on AIDS supports research on the biological and behavioral causes of HIV infection; analyzes and evaluates national research needs and opportunities; and consults with health organizations and Federal agencies to identify and meet AIDS-related needs.
