Student Volunteer Program (SVP)

General

  • Gain exposure to fields such as physical science, mathematics, engineering, computer science, and administration
  • Formal agreement is signed between student, school, and NIST
  • Non-paid

Who Qualifies?

  • Must be enrolled at least half-time in school.
  • All students under the age of 18 years must have valid and signed State of Maryland work permit.

Applications

Submit application for NIST review. (If interested in applying for a research positon, please apply to SHIP. More information can be found here www.nist.gov/hrmd/staffing/ship.cfm You will be contacted if being considered for volunteer service. Student Service Learning

Students in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) must complete a number of hours of student service learning (SSL) before graduation. The Volunteer Center works in partnership with MCPS and maintains the database of volunteer activities that have been approved for SSL hours.
