USE OF THE BRODIE REGISTER ON ROTOCYCLE BEER METERS

Brewers and others concerned:

Purpose. This circular is issued to inform you that a Revenue Procedure has been approved that authorizes the use by brewers of the Brodie register on Rotocycle beer meters.

Background. Revenue Procedure 60-30 (C.B. 1960-2, 1008), the publication of which was announced in Industry Circular No. 60-35, approved the 2BL and 3BL Rotocycle Beer Meters for use by brewers in measuring beer to be racked or transferred to the brewery bottling house. At that time, these meters were equipped with the same type registers as approved piston-type meters. The manufacturer of Rotocycle meters is now manufacturing the Brodie register and considers it better suited for use on those meters. A series of tests under actual operating conditions indicates that the Brodie register is an improvement and, accordingly, it is approved for use as indicated below.

Use of Brodie register. The Brodie register, Series 22265, equipped with an anti-reversing device, is approved for use by brewers on Rotocycle beer meters only, manufactured by the Rockwell Manufacturing Company, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Inquiries. Inquiries regarding this Industry Circular should refer to its number and be addressed to your Assistant Regional Commissioner, Alcohol and Tobacco Tax.
