Bert A. Otto

Bert A. OttoDeputy Comptroller Central District

Bert A. Otto serves as Deputy Comptroller for the Central District in the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). He has held this position since July 1, 1997.

Mr. Otto is responsible for the oversight of 545 community banks and federal savings associations, as well as 20 independent data service providers and trust companies. In this capacity, he manages a staff of 480 bank examiners and other professional and support personnel in the Central District.

Mr. Otto joined the OCC in 1973 as a National Bank Examiner in the Indianapolis Duty Station. He was promoted to Field Manager of the OCC’s Peoria, Illinois, Duty Station in 1984, and became Field Manager of Boston, Massachusetts, Duty Station in 1990. In January 1991, he became Director for the Boston Field Office, which supervised examiners in Boston, Washington, D.C., and Syracuse, N.Y. In October 1994, he was appointed Assistant Deputy Comptroller for Compliance in OCC headquarters in Washington D.C.

Mr. Otto holds a bachelor of arts in business management from Indiana State University, and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
