Beth Castro

Beth CastroDirector for Community Development

Beth Castro is Director of the Community Development Division in the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).

In this position, she is responsible for the Community Affairs Department’s research and publications as well as the management of the OCC’s district community affairs officers. She was appointed to this position in July 2008.

Ms. Castro previously served as First Vice President at Washington Mutual, managing various functions of the Community Reinvestment Program during her tenure there, including Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) programs and initiatives, community development outreach, and homeownership preservation efforts. She has worked in the mortgage and banking industry for more than 20 years and, since 1996, has focused her career on community reinvestment and development.

Ms. Castro is a native of California and currently resides in Silver Spring, Maryland, with her family.
