Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, today issued the following statement after the government of Bulgaria concluded that Hezbollah was responsible for a terrorist bombing in the city of Burgas in 2012:

“The government of Bulgaria announced that its investigation into the bombing at Sarafovo Airport on July 18, 2012, leads directly to persons affiliated with Hezbollah. I commend Bulgaria for coming forward with the results of their investigation into this terrorist attack in Burgas, which killed six innocent people, including five Israeli tourists, and injured many others.

“I call on our European partners to designate Hezbollah as a terrorist organization—as the United States has already done—and to work to uncover Hezbollah’s financing and operational networks to prevent future terrorist attacks.”
