Secretary Duncan to Participate in Digital Learning Day, Spotlighting Educational Technology at the Newseum in Washington, D.C.

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will take part in the Alliance for Excellent Education's second Digital Learning Day, which celebrates teachers and spotlights successful instructional technology practices in classrooms across the country. Duncan will join Bob Wise, former governor of West Virginia, and Rep. George Miller of California to participate in live demonstrations and interactive lessons at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. More than 100 educators from the Washington, D.C. metro area will gather at the Newseum to participate in hands-on teaching and learning sessions that will focus on specific approaches to digital learning and include examples of interactive digital learning content and instructional strategies in the classroom.

Digital Learning Day also will include a national Digital Town Hall broadcast live from the Newseum and simulcast at http://wpc.1806.edgecastcdn.net/001806/aee/dld.html. The Digital Town Hall will profile teachers, students, schools and districts that are implementing digital learning strategies in innovative and successful ways.
