Senior Education Official to Address Wisconsin Act State Organization’s 2013 Annual Conference in Middleton

Greg Darnieder, senior advisor on college access to U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, will give remarks at the Wisconsin ACT State Organization’s annual conference at 2:00 p.m. CT, on Thursday, Feb. 7, in Middleton, Wis.  He will discuss the Obama administration’s initiatives to foster college completion and close the achievement gap, as well the importance of aligning education to meet current and future workforce opportunities.

Entitled “Preparing the Next Generation,” the conference will bring together some 300 school counselors, curriculum directors, principals, superintendents, college admission counselors, and workforce development professionals. The conference will focus on strengthening relationships among educators at all levels to ensure student readiness for a successful transition from high school to postsecondary education and/or the workforce.
