2011 Postbac Students

Postbaccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA)
The goal of the Postbaccalaureate IRTA Program is to give recent college graduates the opportunity to spend 1-2 years working directly with a NIDA scientist on a biomedical research project. U.S. citizens or permanent residents who intend to apply for admission to graduate or medical school and who are less than 2 years from receiving a bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university are eligible for the program. There is no application deadline; however, most students begin their training in the summer or early fall. Technical Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA)
The goal of the Technical IRTA Program is to produce highly trained research support personnel. Trainees master the latest and most advanced techniques for basic or applied research working in an environment devoted exclusively to biomedical research. U.S. citizens or permanent residents who have received a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university are eligible for the program. The initial training award is for 2 years and can be extended for one additional year. There is no application deadline.
