Scientific Programs

Our direct research into the causes, treatment, and prevention of cancer, AIDS, and related diseases. From basic research into the molecular mechanisms of carcinogenesis to pre-clinical investigation of potential new treatments, scientists at NCI-Frederick are studying the origins of cancer—the genes, proteins, and signals involved in initiation—and identifying possible targets to treat or prevent the disease.

Programs encompass investigators, organized within a specific field of research, who are working together to solve a complex scientific problem.
