How to Download

All NTIS products available for download are created in the Portable Document Format (PDF). This format requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader for viewing and printing PDF files. Click the icon below to obtain the free Reader.

The exact method of saving download files varies by browser type and browser version number.

If you are having trouble starting the download or saving the download file, please try the following suggestions. These suggestions work on most versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape.

Suggestions

Microsoft Internet Explorer Users:

  • Message: "ERROR LOCATING OBJECT HANDLER or NO VIEWER AVAILABLE"

What Next?

  • When using the left mouse button to select the download if you see an error message saying ERROR LOCATING OBJECT HANDLER or NO VIEWER AVAILABLE, then an ALTERNATIVE way to start the download is:
  • Use the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON instead to select the download link.
  • This brings up a menu.
  • Select the "SAVE TARGET AS" option.
  • Save the download file using the file extension of pdf (eg: ADA22312.pdf).
  • Netscape Users:
    Message: UNKNOWN FILE TYPE.

What Next?

  • Some Netscape versions may show a dialog box indicating UNKNOWN FILE TYPE when you select the download link with the LEFT mouse button. If this occurs, then:
  • Select the SAVE FILE option from that dialog box, rather than the other options such as "PICK APP".
  • An ALTERNATIVE way to start the download is to use the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON to select the download link rather than the LEFT mouse button.
  • This will bring up a menu.
  • Select the "SAVE LINK AS" option.
  • Save the download file using the file extension of pdf (eg: ADA22312.pdf).

In general the downloading of files is a complex transaction that may be affected by a number of factors including:

  • connection type and speed,
  • network and Internet traffic,
  • file type and size, and
  • connectivity with the remote (host) server.

NTIS is committed to offering high-speed, robust file downloads; however there are circumstances beyond our control which could affect the download process.

If you encounter any problems besides those listed above, contact the NTIS Help Desk
