The craze for postcards reached its height in the first decade of the 20th century, when any and all subjects were mined for the popular medium. The homes of Members of Congress frequently appear during this period, as they were local celebrities—and, as is the case with Congressman Charles Fowler, owners of impressive homes. The American News Co., which produced this card, was an extensive publishing concern that had most of its lithographic prints —of which this card is an example—made in Germany.
