SIGONELLA, Italy (Feb. 14, 2012) - Construction Mechanic 3rd Class Owen Boehm, left, and Construction Mechanic Constructionman Brandon Brooks, right, both assigned to  Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 3 Det. Sigonella, rebuild the real axel of a 420D backhoe. Seabees of Det. Sigonella began working on various infrastructure improvement projects for the base shortly after relieving NMCB 5, Feb. 14. NMCB 3 is an expeditionary naval construction element currently assigned to U.S. 6th Fleet's Commander, Task Force 68 to provide construction, engineering, and security services that support national strategy, naval power projection, humanitarian assistance and contingency operations. The ceremony marked the official transfer of authority from NMCB 5 to NMCB 3. NMCB 3 is an expeditionary naval construction element currently assigned to U.S. 6th Fleet's Commander, Task Force 68 to provide construction, engineering, and security services that support national strategy, naval power projection, humanitarian assistance and contingency operations. POINT MUGU NAVAL AIR STATION, Calif. (February 3, 2012) Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 3's advance party (AP) board an aircraft that is destined for Rota, Spain Feb. 3.  NMCB 3's AP has deployed to Spain and Africa and they are relieving NMCB 5 of all construction projects in EUCOM and AFRICOM.  Once the relief is complete the remaining NMCB 3 Seabees will arrive in Rota and Djibouti while NMCB 5 will return home to Port Hueneme, Calif.  NMCB 3 is an expeditionary element of U.S. Naval Forces providing construction, engineering, and security services in support of national strategy, naval power projection, humanitarian assistance, and contingency operations.
