  1. As Americans celebrate Thanksgiving Day, I want to personally thank all Pacific Fleet Sailors and civilians for their service, and their families for their support. I will be spending Thanksgiving with families at the Fisher House here in Hawaii. A special thanks to Sailors standing the watch at sea and to our individual augmentees -- we are all grateful for your sacrifice to be away from your family and friends.

    • I please ask of you for your most urgent assistance now, as U.S. PACIFIC FLEET may have the ability to provide much needed information that assisted greatly in working my claim for “compensation & pension” with the Veterans Benefit Administration. My Mom, Elsie M. Doran, died at home in bed on November 3rd, 2012 at age 90, just two weeks short of her 91st birthday, much to copy to clear estate. Due eight long months of illness with Mom, including “in & out” hospitalizations, I was not able to pursue nor work on working my claim for “compensation & pension” with the Veterans Benefit Administration. I really need to obtain this information as soon as possible, the ships logs from December 1978 through the end of August 1978, without it, in order to AVOID MY BECOMING HOMELESS and WITHOUT ANY SORT OF INCOME, and/or ANY POTENTIAL FOR SUCH INCOME, very possibly, also incurring a MENTAL BREAKDOWN, as there is a reverse mortgage, and I need the benefits ASAP to hold the home. As the VA does confirm that I have PTSD/MST and “100% unemployable”. Would also like to obtain any other information that you may have regarding the USS MORTON [DD948] in that period DEC1978 through AUG1979. That could be flight operations logs, deck logs, ship logs, crew rosters from, medical logs. In addition, some interaction and communication that may affect my claim may be found under DESRON35 communications; as well as similar possibly COMTHIRDFLEET, and NAVDIST14 [RADM Ralph S. Wentworth, Jr]. I am also try also to obtain the name of the senior officer for DESRON35 and COMTHIRDFLEET. All for this brief short period, December 1978 through the end of August 1978. Thanks, Tim

to our Pacific rebalance strategy. I want to extend a personal Aloha to the crew and their loved ones as they join our Pacific Fleet family. Just as the ship's namesake Navy SEAL Lt. Michael Murphy left his mark on our nation, I know this crew will make its presence felt throughout the vital Asia-Pacific region. Welcome home!

  7. Join me this Veterans Day weekend in appreciation of all those who have served our nation in uniform, especially our Wounded Warriors who always inspire me with their tenacity and positive attitude. Those of us who serve today feel a great sense of pride for those veterans who showed us the way, and we owe them a great deal of respect and a debt of gratitude. Each of us has played a role in defending our great nation at home and protecting our interests abroad, so please take the time to attend a Veterans Day ceremony or to shake the hand of those who are heroes of past wars. Thank you for your service.
  8. If you are on our Navy-Marine Corps team, I need your undivided attention about this issue of destructive behavior. Two Navy Sailors were indicted this week in Okinawa following the rape of a Japanese woman. We deeply regret the grief and t...
rauma the victim has endured and the anger it has caused among people in Okinawa. I am appalled that such violent criminal behavior reportedly emerged from our ranks. Bad decisions and destructive behavior impact us all. If you are part of the wider military family, I encourage you to make this a topic of conversation -- your influence can make a difference. We will tackle this, and we can do it together.
