Current Status:  On September 28, Congress passed and the President signed into law a Continuing Resolution (CR) for Fiscal Year 2013 funding the federal government, including LSC, until March 27, 2013.  The CR increases government spending by .612 percent, divided across the board for nearly all federal agencies, including LSC, from FY 2012 levels.

The six-month spending measure provides LSC with $350,129,760, an increase of $2,129,760 on an annualized basis from FY 2012. This increase would be applied evenly across LSC’s budget line items; basic field funding would increase by $1,973,088 on an annualized basis.

The CR does not include any legislative language changing LSC’s distribution of basic field grants based on changes of the poverty population as determined by the U.S. Census Bureau.  Congress will need to make that determination in a final FY 2013 appropriations bill.
