Kim Witherspoon

Ms. Kim Witherspoon became part CTEP's Clinical Grants and Contracts Branch (CGCB) in September 2000. She is responsible for the administrative management and oversight of the CGCB grant portfolio. In addition, Kim ensures grantee policy and regulatory compliance as well as assists the Investigational Drug Branch in management of the Phase I Early Phase Clinical Trial Cooperative Agreements. She performs duties as a Program Director, FAC-COTR and Program Analyst. Her portfolio includes clinical research projects focused on human subject research protections, minority and health disparities, clinical trial design, data and safety monitoring, and bioethics. Kim is FAC-COTR for a $2 million CTEP contract.

Kim graduated from the University of Kansas in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology. After graduation, she worked as a Production Technician for Meloy Laboratories, a subsidiary of Revlon. In September 1982, Kim began her career as a federal government employee working for the Department of Defense. As a Biological Laboratory Technician in a Department of Medicine research laboratory at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), she rapidly advanced to become the laboratory manager. After 18 years of service at USUHS, she accepted a position as a Biologist in CTEP. Between 2009 and 2010 Kim received her dual Master degrees from the University of Maryland University College in Business Administration and Biotechnology specializing in Biodefense and Biosecurity.
