What is the purpose of this site?

This site is designed to assist researchers in the field of cancer diagnosis and to provide current and accurate information on the research projects and resources supported by the Cancer Diagnosis Program of the National Cancer Institute. The site also links to related Web sites of the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health, and to a variety of quality Web sites and resources on topics related to cancer diagnosis research.

This site is managed by the Cancer Diagnosis Program of the National Cancer Institute's (NCI's) Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis. The NCI is a component of the National Institutes of Health, the focal point for the nation's biomedical research.

This site is designed primarily for researchers working in the field of cancer diagnosis. The NCI provides information about approved cancer diagnostics for patients, health care providers and the general public on the Web at: www.cancer.gov/ and through its Cancer Information Service (1-800-4-CANCER).

What is on this site?

cancerdiagnosis.nci.nih.gov provides scientific information on cancer diagnosis research and on how investigators may apply to the NCI for research support and access to resources including human specimens for research. It also describes the activities of the Cancer Diagnosis Program. The focus of the Cancer Diagnosis Program is on the development of medical laboratory assays to predict the clinical course of a cancer and guide the choice of therapy. Other programs of the National Cancer Institute support research on diagnostic imaging and on methods of screening for the early detection of cancer; for information on these topics please visit the Web pages of the NCI Biomedical Imaging Program at www.cancer.gov/bip, and the Division of Cancer Prevention at www3.cancer.gov/prevention.

What is this site’s Privacy Policy?

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) respects the privacy of visitors to the cancerdiagnosis.nci.nih.gov Web site.

Why is information collected? We may collect a limited amount of information on usage of the Web site for statistical purposes, in order to measure the number of visitors to the various sections of our site and to help us make our site more useful to visitors.

What information is collected?
