Connecticut

Connecticut claims a rich history along with a wealth of physical beauty. From its sprawling agricultural communities in the east, to its cherished coast in the south, it is home to some of America’s most important and prized national treasures. The Long Island Sound and the Connecticut River draw tourists from all over to visit its scenic shores, and historic landmarks, like Mystic Seaport, and the Glastonbury and Chester ferries. In the northwest corner, Connecticut’s rugged covered bridges, undulating hills, and charming lakes provide timeless New England scenery. All across the state, cities boast the former homes of American innovators and thinkers like the Mark Twain Home in Hartford and the PT Barnum Museum in Bridgeport.

One of the original 13 colonies, Connecticut’s first Governor, John Trumbull, whose statue is prominently displayed in the United States Capitol, was the only governor to support American independence from Britain. Yet, Connecticut residents feel pride not just for their history, but in their work ethic and commitment to community. Connecticut has been steadfast in its support for our armed forces – from the submarine base in Groton to the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut helps ensure that our national security and national defense programs are the best in the world.

From its natural beauty to the quality of its workforce, Connecticut continues to flourish.
