NOTICE: PMI PMP® Exam to Change effective August 31, 2013!!!!

The PMBOK® Guide Version 5 will be available Fourth Quarter of this year and the exam will be changing effective August 31, 2013. So if you are thinking about obtaining your PMP® certification, this is the time to register! You may find that scheduling an exam time slot in 2013 that best suits your schedule is difficult. Also effective April 1, 2012 there will be an additional fee to reschedule your Prometric PMI PMP® exam.

The Chinese proverb says that the "journey of a thousand miles begins with one small step." In this compelling hour, Carl Pritchard offers five of those "first steps" toward more effective project briefings, meetings and facilitations. Carl identifies core elements of making briefings effective and the common missteps that people make along the way. With his humorous style, he drives home the critical elements in a communications experience and how to leverage them effectively.

Carl Pritchard, PMP, PMI-RMP is a risk management guru, trainer and speaker, and has authored six texts in project management. His latest, The Risk Management Memory Jogger (Goal/QPC) is slated for release this fall. Carl presents around the world on risk management and project management and served as lead chapter author of the risk management chapter of the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide) 4th Edition. He's a member of PMI Baltimore and a resident of Frederick, MD.

How good are your project schedules? How do you assess their quality? How do you maintain their quality as the project moves forward? Eric Fisher of MITRE Corporation will take us through GAO’s recently released 10 Best Practices for Scheduling. He will provide actionable advice on how to decide which practices are most applicable to your situation, how to implement them and what to watch out for. You will come away from this talk with an improved understanding of your current schedule process maturity as well as how to improve it.

Eric Fisher is a Program Management Advisor with MITRE Corporation. He has 18 years of program and project management experience with commercial and federal customers. At MITRE Eric provides expertise in acquisition planning, contract management and program controls to federal civilian agencies. His clients have included US-VISIT, VA’s Office of Management, the Veteran’s Benefits Administration, DHS’s Office of the Chief Information Officer and U.S. Citizens and Immigration Services. Currently, he is advising VA’s Office of Information Technology. Eric also teaches a course on Integrated Baseline Reviews for the MITRE Institute. Prior to joining MITRE, he was employed by IBM Global Services and the General Motors Corporation. Eric holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Meeting starts with Networking at 6:00pm followed by dinner and the presentation for an hour. Meeting normally ends by 9:00pm.
