IES Training Institutes
Single-Case Intervention Research Design and Analysis
The purpose of this training institute is to increase the national capacity of education researchers to conduct methodologically rigorous single-case intervention studies. Cluster Randomized Trials (RCT) Workshops
The objective of these RCT workshops is to increase the national capacity to develop and conduct rigorous evaluations of the effectiveness of education interventions by training researchers to conduct cluster (group) randomized trials in education settings.

Summer Quasi-Experimental Design Workshop
The first Summer Research Training Institute on Better Quasi-Experimental Design and Analysis was held in 2010 in order to increase the national capacity of researchers to develop and conduct rigorous evaluations of the impact of education interventions.

Implementation Science: Building the Bridge between Science and Practice
Dr. Karen Blase provides an overview of implementation science and discusses implications for research and evaluation efforts. Seeing evidence-based interventions, instructional practices, and prevention strategies through an implementation lens has implications for how efficacy and effectiveness trials are staged and conducted. Not all Students Need to be Assessed: Research Designs Where Data are Intentionally Missing
Dr. Jim Bovaird provides an overview of intentionally missing data designs in education research. The presentation examines the types of missing data in school based research, accelerated longitudinal designs, planned missing data designs, computerized adaptive testing, and sequentially designed experiments.
