In recognition of the relationship the government has with Indian Tribes, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) supports research on improving the health of American Indian and Alaska Natives. The 15-member Comparative Effectiveness Research Council will assist federal agencies in coordinating comparative effectiveness and related health services research. The Recovery Act authorized a little more than $1 billion to support comparative effectiveness research. Comparative effectiveness research is conducted to provide information on the relative strengths and weakness of various medical interventions with the goal of using that information to give clinicians and patients valid information to make decisions that will improve the performance of the U.S. health care system.Comparative Effectiveness Research Report Released [PDF | 3.61MB]
Recommendations for how the Office of the Secretary will spend $400 million for patient-centered research were released June 29 by the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER). The report [PDF | 3.61MB] and an executive summary are available.
Federal Collaboration on Health Disparities Research (FCHDR)
The Federal Collaboration on Health Disparities Research (FCHDR) is a federal partnership working together to identify, promote, and support interagency health disparities research to help inform programs, policy, and practice.
