Digital Atlas of the Spine

Project Member(s): Leif Neve, L. Rodney Long, George Thoma

Screen shot of the Digital Atlas image processing interfaceAt the National Library of Medicine, we are helping to develop a digital atlas to serve as a reference tool for the interpretation of cervical and lumbar spine x-rays. The atlas contains representative images for several grades of severity for a number of spinal conditions on which expert rheumatologist readers have reached exact agreement in grading. Its functionality includes the ability to display single or multiple simultaneous images, the ability to add one's own images, and the ability to perform image processing functions on the images.

Version 2.2 of the program is now available as a Java applet here. This requires that the Java Plug-in be installed. It will check automatically for the presence of the plug-in. If it is not found, you will be shown how to download and install it.
