    A brochure published by the American Psychological Association, useful to anyone who wants to know more about elder abuse. Includes information about types of abuse and neglect, what causes it, and where to go for help.
  • Financial Safety Planning for Older Women 2000
    Valuable and reassuring information for any woman 50 and older who has been hurt or controlled by a family member or someone they love. Modeled after a similar booklet from The Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Elder Law Center of the Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups, some information is Iowa-specific. Published by the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Iowa Commission on the Status of Women, and Iowa Department of Elder Affairs.
  • Preventing Stress from Becoming Harmful: A Guide for Caregivers
    If you are feeling overwhelmed by the challenges of caregiving, this is a "must read" for you. Published by the National Center on Elder Abuse.
  • Standards for Guardians
    The National Guardianship Association (NGA) Standards for Guardians, including: Conflict of Interest; Decision Making; Personal Needs; Personal Contact and Ongoing Responsibilities; Medical Services and Medical Treatment; and Management of the Estate and the Ward. Each standard is explained in detail and provides guidance to guardians in the private and public sectors.
  • Citizen's Guide to Preventing & Reporting Elder Abuse
    [PDF 2,876KB/40Pgs]
    Developed jointly by the California Attorney General's Crime & Violence Prevention Center and AARP. The guide represents the first of several planned statewide outreach initiatives, funded by three-year, $6 million grant received by the attorney general's prevention office.
