| PURPOSE: | The purpose of the meeting is to hold a hearing to provide the Workgroup on Quality with information about the adequacy of existing data systems for supporting quality measurement at the individual practitioner level and to identify needed improvements in existing data and data collection mechanisms. The broad scope includes administrative data, vital records data, medical records data and survey data. In addition, in collaboration with the Agency for Health Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Workgroup on Quality will also hear testimony on topic areas that should be included in the National Healthcare Quality Report. The Agency for Health Research and Quality is soliciting public testimony on the Preliminary Measure Set for the report as a portion of the hearing. The Institute of Medicine recommended a framework and criteria for selecting measures for the National Healthcare Quality Report, and AHRQ has prepared a draft list of proposed topic areas and measures to be included.
