National DO NOT CALL Registry

Today the Federal Trade Commission announces the opening of the National Do Not Call Registry. The Registry gives consumers a choice about the number of telemarketing calls they receive at home. Registration is free and easy; it can be done online or by telephone.

Consumers who have an email account can register online beginning today. To register online, visit WWW.DONOTCALL.GOV

In states west of the Mississippi (including Minnesota and Louisiana) consumers can register by phone beginning today. Consumers in states east of the Mississippi may register beginning July 7. Consumers must call from the number they wish to register. To register by phone, call toll-free 1-888-382-1222 (TTY 1-866-290-4236).

Consumers who place their home or mobile telephone numbers on the registry by August 31 should see a decrease in calls after October 1, 2003.

To register or get more information, go to: WWW.DONOTCALL.GOV
