Notice to EDGAR Form N-SAR Filers

The Commission is modernizing the submission of Form N-SAR. However, the deployment of a modernized online form is being delayed until no sooner than April 2013. The specific deployment date will be announced as an update to this notice.

When the online form is deployed, the Commission will retire the DOS based application currently used to create Form N-SAR submissions and the “EDGAR Filer Manual (Volume III) NSAR Supplement”. Any filing created by the DOS based application will be suspended after 5:30 p.m. of the business day prior to the deployment of the online form.

In addition, once the online form is deployed, filers will have to file their Form N-SAR using the modernized online version of the Form N-SAR application that will be available on the EDGAR Filing Website or construct their filings according to the EDGAR N-SAR XML Technical Specification.

Filers should be aware of the following:

• The new application will not be available for viewing or testing prior to deployment.
   
• Form N-SAR and its instructions have not been amended. Filers should continue to answer each question as they have in the past. Refer to the EDGAR Filer Manual for important information on entering data into the new application and concerning the removal of many of the old application’s data limitations.
   
• The draft technical specifications are located on the “Information for EDGAR Filers” page of the SEC website at: http://www.sec.gov/info/edgar/nsarxml.1_d.htm
   
• The EDGAR Filer Manual — Volume II provides an overview of the on line filing process and the new Form N-SAR application. The instructions for filing Form N-SAR are included in Chapter 9 of this volume. This manual may be obtained at: http://www.sec.gov/info/edgar/edgarfm-vol2-v19.pdf. EDGAR Filer Manual - Volume III, “N-SAR Supplement”, should be used until the new online form has been deployed.
   
• Once deployed, filers will be able to access the new Form N-SAR application by selecting the "File Form N-SAR" link from the menu of Online Forms on the EDGAR Filing website (https://www.edgarfiling.sec.gov).
