CAI Global is a public health organization that offers capacity
building services for health professionals, including curriculum
development and grants management. Established in 1979, CAI
conducts translational research in support of providers who serve
vulnerable, underserved, and at-risk populations. CAI seeks to use
the transformative power of education and research to foster a more
aware, healthy, compassionate, and equitable world.
Key Component 3: Increasing Youth Access to Contraceptive and
Reproductive Health Care Services
CAI provides training and capacity building services to grantees
to support their efforts to increase teens’ access to
evidence-based and culturally competent clinical services in target
communities. CAI builds grantees’ knowledge and capacity to use the
tools of continuous quality improvement and performance measurement
to enhance access to contraceptive and reproductive health care for
adolescents. CAI provides training on supporting clinics in
providing youth-friendly and accessible services that are
responsive to the stages of adolescent development; supports the
development of linkages between health care and social service
providers to enhance the coordination of care for adolescents; and
provides materials on developments in health policy and the
transforming health care delivery system and its implications for
the design and delivery of services. CAI supports the development
of clinic-based communication and educational materials; and
engages nontraditional partners such as pharmacies, businesses,
media, parents, and faith communities in communitywide teen
pregnancy prevention initiatives.
