Murder Suspect Goes On The Run But Can’t Hide

LSFTF LogoSan Antonio, TX – Adrian Casares, 20, was arrested last night by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in San Antonio without incident. Arrest warrants were sought by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office in Nebraska, where it is alleged that Casares committed terroristic threats and the use of a firearm to commit a felony.

On January 11, 2013, the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force received information that Casares along with his girlfriend, Tiffany Zerley, 26, had fled Nebraska in a Ford Explorer and were hiding out in a residence in San Antonio. Last night, Task force officers determined that Casares and Zerley were hiding out in a house located in the 100 block of Surrey Avenue. Task force officers initiated surveillance and subsequently located the Ford Explorer. Task force officers entered the residence where Casares and Zerley were immediately arrested. Task force officers later discovered that Zerley had an outstanding warrant for allegedly committing larceny.

Casares and Zerley are currently being held in Bexar County Jail without bond.

On December 30, 2012, Casares and Miguel Castillo, 23, got into a verbal argument with Tyler Schoenrock, 26, in an apartment located in Lincoln, Nebraska. Casares allegedly pulled a gun and threatened Schoenrock for being a “snitch”. According to court documents, Casares and Castillo ordered Schoenrock into a vehicle, drove Schoenrock to a rural area in Lancaster County, ordered Schoenrock out of the vehicle, and shot him dead. Castillo was arrested a few days after the murder, but Casares went on the run and was a fugitive until he was arrested last night.

Casares is a known member of the "East Side Locos" gang with an extensive criminal history to include assault and possession of narcotics.

Robert R. Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas, states, “I am thankful and proud of the men and women responsible for arresting and putting these men behind bars, but with the same heart I am saddened that a parent has lost a son and a son has lost a father.”
