Introduction

Grand Rounds in Environmental Medicine (GREM) are available and downloadable online in two versions.

GREM Instructional Presentation Kits are 1-hour continuing-education seminars designed for medical educators to use in face-to-face sessions with primary health-care providers and other health professionals involved in environmental health. These kits consist of:

GREM Web Stream Presentations are 1-hour, continuing-education, video Web streams designed for primary health-care providers and for other professionals who work in environmental health. These materials can also be used as educational tools to supplement face-to-face presentations.

Using the Online GREM Instructional Presentation Kit

  • Target population
  • Who should present?
  • What is included in each kit?
  • How long will it take to present the topic?
  • How is continuing education received?
  • Can a hardcopy of the GREM be printed and used?
  • The target populations for the GREM Instructional Presentation Kits are primary health-care providers and other health professionals who work in or are interested in environmental medicine. The kit is developed for an instructor for delivery in face-to face sessions. The Web-streamed version is also suitable for a group presentation .
  • The GREM Instructional Presentation Kits are designed for delivery by physicians or other clinicians who are familiar with the material and who are prepared to respond to audience questions.
  • The kits include:
    • Detailed script for presenter,
    • Slides that support script, and
    • Additional handouts for some presentations.
  • Each GREM Instructional Presentation Kit will take approximately 1 hour to present. This estimate includes taking the post-test online, which is required for obtaining continuing education credit.
  • Continuing education is offered free of charge to physicians, nurses, health educators and other health professionals seeking CME, CNE, CHES, or CEU credit. Individuals who have taken one of the ATSDR GREM courses will need to complete and pass the online post-test. Note: If the GREM material is printed for hard copy use, the post-test will still need to be taken online to obtain CE credit.   • A hard copy of the GREM’s associated slides can be printed and used for self study, but is intended for live instructor delivery. If the GREM material is printed for hard copy use, the post-test will still need to be taken online to obtain CE credit.

Using the GREM Web Stream Presentation

  • Target population

  • Does the content need to be used in a particular sequence?
  • The target populations for the GREM Web Streams are primary health-care providers or other health professionals who are interested in environmental medicine topics. The Web stream version can be used for self-study or for group presentation
  • Viewing each GREM Web Stream will take approximately 1 hour. This estimate includes taking the post-test online, which is required for obtaining continuing education credit.
  • Continuing education credit is offered free of charge to physicians, nurses, health educators and other health professionals seeking CME, CNE, CHES, or CEU credit. Individuals who have taken one of the ATSDR GREM courses will need to complete and pass the online post-test. Note: If the GREM material is printed for hard copy use, the post-test will still need to be taken online to obtain CE credit.   • The online GREM has been developed so that users can scan and skip sections if they wish to locate specific information. It is, however, recommended that each section be reviewed sequentially if the user intends to take the post-test for continuing education credit.
