Molecular Targets Faculty


The NCI Molecular Targets Facultyprovides the infrastructure to enhance collaborative basic, translational, and clinical research on molecular targets or pathways. The Faculty has launched the Molecular Targets Laboratory to provide intramural investigators with assistance in the development of screening assays to identify small-molecule inhibitors and biologic agents that interact with molecular targets including macromolecular, protein-based, or nanotech agents, and to support the pre-clinical development of promising molecularly targeted lead compounds.

The Molecular Targets Faculty Steering Committee (MTFSC) is focused on bringing CCR PI-initiated small molecules from the bench to development via the NCI Experimental Therapeutics (NExT) Program with DCTD.

Our mission is:

  • To identify and validate important molecular targets in cancer and AIDS
  • To sponsor and early drug development in the Intramural Research Program (IRP)
  • To facilitate collaboration and communication
