Scientific Peer Review Program

Beginning in fiscal year 2011, the Office of Naval Research (ONR) will begin initiating peer review of ongoing basic research programs across its science and technology departments.

Peer review is a process conducted by scientific and technical experts who provide an independent assessment of the scientific merit of the research being reviewed. The scientific community depends on peer review to ensure the merit, performance and relevancy of research activities. By initiating this program, ONR strives to ensure excellence in the research it funds.
