Overview

This data product provides users with comprehensive statistics on fresh and processed fruit, melons, and tree nuts in the United States, as well as global production and trade data for these sectors. It harmonizes and integrates data from the ERS market outlook program with data collected by different Federal and international statistical agencies to facilitate analyses of economic performance over time, and across domestic and foreign markets.

  • The Data by Category section provides data on a calendar-year basis for fresh and processed products. Data for commodity aggregates are also presented in this section.
  • The Data by Commodity section offers more detailed data, including State-level statistics, for single industries on a marketing-year basis.

Data are provided for more than 30 individual fresh and processed products. Data for commodity aggregates are also presented for users to be able to examine the economic performance of a sector relative to industry benchmarks, both national and international. ERS has previously published these data in Fruit and Tree Nuts Outlook and in the annual Fruit and Tree Nuts Yearbook and commodity-specific data products.

This data product is a work in progress. The current release features U.S. imports and exports of fruit, melons, and tree nuts, as well as average retail prices and price indexes for commodities and commodity aggregates. In the future, other data series will be added, including U.S. and State-level acreage, yield, and production data; shipments and shipping point prices; U.S. supply and disappearance; and per capita use.
