Social Media & Health Communication Research

With the changing health communication landscape brought on by technologies and new media, HCIRB would like to engage scholars and practitioners from multiple disciplines through a planned funding initiative on social/participative media.

Some potential areas of focus include:

  • Measurement and methodological issues in conducting social media research
  • Impact of social media on health behavior, attitudes and perception
  • Implications of social media on clinical care
  • Implications for health communication interventions and program planning
  • Digital Divide and health disparities

HCIRB invites expert extramural feedback to help identify gaps in the field and inform the development of this program initiative.
