What is a Web Service?

Web service is "a software system designed to support interoperable machine-to-machine interaction over a network. It has an interface described in a machine-process able format (specifically Web Services Description Language WSDL). Other systems interact with the Web service in a manner prescribed by its description using Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) messages, typically conveyed using Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) with an Extensible Markup Language (XML) serialization in conjunction with other Web-related standards."

What is the Process?

To access our data web services, your organization must register by completing our registration form. (Registration Form)

This registration form will require the following information:

• Two point of contact names (primary and alternate)
• Domain from which you will be executing the data service call (i.e., hrsa.gov)

Why is the Registration Required?

We believe we can better serve our customers if we know who they are; we can more clearly identify users of the data and identify additional data that may benefit your organization in the future.

We will notify you of:

• Planned or pending changes to those services that may affect your applications,
• Planned server outages, and
• New services as they become available.

What is Available?

The following Data Web Services are currently available (Developer’s Guide):

• Health Center Data
  The service enables users to query for health centers by state, county or ZIP code.
  Service Detail Sample Result Metadata
• Ryan White HIV/AIDS Medical Care Providers
  The service enables users to query for HIV/AIDS Care Providers around a latitude and longitude.
  Service Detail Sample Result Metadata
• Infant Mortality Data Services
  The service enables users to query for Infant mortality services in a state or county.
