Native American Initiatives:
Alaska Native Tumor Registry
Now a full member of the SEER Program, the Alaska Native Tumor Registry (ANTR) was initiated in 1974 in collaboration with NCI and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. From the outset, the procedures and policies followed were those of NCI's SEER Program, and the registry has received technical assistance from SEER over a number of years.
In 1999, ANTR completed its first survival analysis, which was distributed statewide to medical providers, tribal health board members, and key tribal personnel. In 2006, "Cancer in Alaska Natives 1969-2003: 35-Year Report (PDF)" was published.
