VA has developed newsletters, guides and other materials for Veterans, the public and health care providers about the health effects of Agent Orange exposure. In addition, at VA's request, the National Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine produces reports reviewing the research on Agent Orange.

Newsletters – Agent Orange Review for Veterans

The Agent Orange Review provides information to Veterans and their families concerned about herbicides used in Vietnam or other locations and about VA’s programs to respond to these concerns.

Brochure

The Environmental Health Registry Programs for Veterans brochure (495 KB, PDF) provides an overview of five VA health registry programs that track the health of Veterans exposed to environmental hazards during military service: Ionizing Radiation, Agent Orange, Gulf War, Depleted Uranium, and Toxic Embedded Fragments.

Posters

VA's Environmental Health Program developed these posters to help inform Veterans about VA benefits and services. Posters are not copyrighted and may be printed on 8.5" x 11" paper using a standard office printer.

Guides for Clinicians

The Veterans Health Initiative study guide, Vietnam Veterans and Agent Orange Exposure (456 KB, PDF), provides a background for health care providers on the unique health issues and concerns of Veterans of the Vietnam War.

The Environmental Exposure Pocket Card (554 KB, PDF) is for health care providers caring for Veterans with exposure concerns and includes what questions to ask and where to get information.

Institute of Medicine Reports on Agent Orange

VA contracts with the Institute of Medicine (IOM) of the National Academy of Sciences, a non-governmental organization, to scientifically review evidence on the long-term health effects of Agent Orange and other herbicides on Vietnam Veterans.

The IOM regularly updates its reports on Veterans and Agent Orange.
