SAVE Verification Process

The SAVE Program provides two methods to verify an applicant’s status:

  1. An electronic verification through the online SAVE system
  2. A paper-based verification through the Form G-845, Document Verification Request

Initial Verification

(Electronic)

  • Agency submits case based upon information provided by the applicant.
  • System response provides applicant’s immigration status or prompts agency to, “Institute Additional Verification.” **

2nd Step

(Electronic)

  • Agency submits additional information on the applicant. 
  • System response provides applicant’s immigration status or prompts agency to, “Resubmit with Docs.”

3rd Step

  • Agency submits a request that generates a prepopulated Form G-845.
  • Agency prints Form G-845 and mails it with photocopies of the applicant’s immigration documents to the designated Status Verification Office (SVO).

  • Agency completes Form G-845.
  • Agency mails form to the designated SVO.

** If the SAVE Program does not verify an applicant’s status on the Initial Verification, it does not necessarily imply that the applicant is not authorized to be in the United States. It may be the result of processing error or indicate the need for additional or corrected documentation.**
