Automated Self-administered 24-hour Dietary Recall (ASA24™)

Now Available!

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) and its contractor, Westat, are pleased to announce the availability of an updated version of an innovative dietary assessment tool -- the Automated Self-Administered 24-Hour Dietary Recall (ASA24™). The ASA24 system is a web-based software tool developed by NCI and Westat that enables automated self-administered 24-hour dietary recalls. ASA24 consists of a Respondent application used by participants to enter recall data and a Researcher application used by researchers to manage study logistics and obtain data analyses.

ASA24™ can be used by researchers for epidemiologic, intervention, behavioral, or clinical research. Clinicians may also find it useful for diet assessment and nutrition counseling, and educators may find it to be a useful teaching tool.

Detailed information about ASA24™, including information on registering a study and a demonstration (demo) of the updated Respondent application, is available at http://riskfactor.cancer.gov/tools/instruments/asa24/. The NCI scientific leads for ASA24 are Amy Subar, PhD, MPH, RD; Sharon Kirkpatrick, PhD, MHSc; Nancy Potischman, PhD; Frances Thompson, PhD; and Gordon Willis, PhD, all in the Applied Research Program, Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences.

ASA24™ is a trademark of DHHS.
