JCRC Core Activities
Medical Research: As an established clinical research site with extensive interaction and collaborations both locally and internationally, JCRC continues to conduct its research work in HIV vaccines, antiretroviral therapy, opportunistic infections, public health and social behaviors. All studies are designed and conducted to international standards, so as to inform best practices and cost effective interventions that will shape national and international policies and guidelines. Clinical Care and Treatment: By Sep 2010, JCRC has cumulatively provided HIV treatment more than 110,000 clients in Uganda. JCRC clinics offer advanced pediatric and Adult HIV/AIDS care, with a comprehensive range of services, including tuberculosis management, Nutrition support, special clinics for young people, adherence, psychosocial support and outreaches. Training and Capacity Building: The JCRC training programs are tailored for individual and institutional needs, focusing on improving skills in clinical care, laboratory and research particularly in the area of HIV/TB. These programs are offered for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, in partnership with international and local collaborators / partners. Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) is an HIV/AIDS care and research institution located in Uganda, established in 1990 to respond to and provide a scientific approach to the national HIV/AIDS challenge.
