Marketing research course to benefit from links with GfK

The University of Nairobi (UoN) has entered into a strategic partnership with GfK, a German research company, to establish relations in the area of developing and establishing an M.Sc. Programme in marketing research. The course which was approved last year by the Senate is being offered at the School of Business has admitted its second group of students.

Through the partnership, the two institutions conduct research, share knowledge and work on publications in the area of market research. The two have joint teaching arrangements for the postgraduate programme, conduct joint supervision of the projects, as well as student and faculty exchange agreement.

UON to collaborate with Likoping University

Prof. Isaac Mbeche, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs, UoN and Dr. Helen Dannetun, Vice-Chancellor, LiU sign the MoU.

The University of Nairobi (UoN) through the College of Education and External Studies (CEES) has entered into a partnership agreement with Linkoping University (LiU), Sweden.

The memorandum of understanding (MOU) which was signed between the two universities will focus on student and staff exchange programmes, cultural exchange programmes, joint academic course development and research exchange. In addition, a collaborative partnership on joint applications for funding will also be factored in. Each University may exchange up to six undergraduate or postgraduate students within the field of education.

The University of Nairobi (UoN) through the Faculty of Agriculture, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (CAVS), has entered into a partnership agreement with Lanzhou University (LZU) focusing on agro technologies in dry land farming, water harvesting and waste management. In addition, staff and student exchange programmes will be part of the engagement.

The background to the agreement dates back to 2012, when a team from UoN had the opportunity of touring some of the agricultural research projects that LZU has in place. According to Prof. Zhou Xuhong, LZU is committed to research as it is its strength. Indeed, LZU is known for its continued long research-orientated tradition.

University of Nairobi Professor Driving Laboratory Reform Efforts in Africa

Agilent Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: A) announced that Dr. Geoffrey Kamau, professor of chemistry at the University of Nairobi was honored with the Association of Laboratory Managers’ (ALMA) 2012 Distinguished Service Award for Laboratory Management. Professor Kamau, Kenyan native, author, and longtime educator/advocate for laboratory reform accepted his award at the association’s annual conference earlier this month in San Antonio, Texas. Agilent Technologies is the corporate sponsor of the award and an industry leader in innovating laboratory practices worldwide.
