Framework Web Feature Services

The USGS is currently experimenting with new methods and forms of providing access to The National Map. The Framework Web Feature Services are such an experiment. Selected Framework data themes were redeployed from their native database formats to services that conform to the Open Geospatial Consortium's (OGC) Web Feature Service (WFS) and Geography Markup Language for Simple Features (GML) specifications and the FGDC/ANSI Geographic Information Framework Data Content Standards. These services provide query and retrieval of specific Framework features and their attributes into a form usable for analysis in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
