At times, almost everyone can use encouragement and inspiration to help them try something new, get over a hurdle, or meet their goals. Cheering on a friend or family member who wants to be more physically active is a great way to be supportive.

Here are a few tips to start your cheering section:

  • Brainstorm solutions to any challenges to being active, offer a pat on the back, and celebrate progress.
  • Take over a few extra chores around the house so there’s time for your friend or family member to take an exercise class.
  • Go along on a shopping trip to purchase new exercise shoes.
  • Help celebrate exercise and physical activity successes!
