At times, almost everyone can use encouragement and inspiration to help them try something new, get over a hurdle, or meet their goals. Cheering on a friend or family member who wants to be more physically active is a great way to be supportive.
There are many ways you can be helpful:
- Agree to be an exercise buddy.
- Share a Go4Life tip sheet with the exerciser (or future exerciser)!
- Read the Go4Life success stories and share one that might be an inspiration.

Here are a few tips to start your cheering section:
- Brainstorm solutions to any challenges to being active, offer a pat on the back, and celebrate progress.
- Take over a few extra chores around the house so there’s time for your friend or family member to take an exercise class.
- Go along on a shopping trip to purchase new exercise shoes.
- Help celebrate exercise and physical activity successes!
