Air Traffic Controller Workforce Plan

Update for 2012

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is on schedule to hire and train tens of thousands of air traffic controllers over the next decade. FAA's controller workforce reached 15,418 in fiscal 2011, exceeding its target of 15,417 controllers.The FAA hired 824 new controllers in fiscal 2011, and has hired more than 7,500 controllers over the last five years. The details are laid out in the recently released seventh annual update to the Air Traffic Controller Workforce Plan 2012–2021 (PDF).
