The Charts and Graphs selection provides visual representations of data that are available in table format in the Summary Tables section of the Summary of Deposits.

The graph displays both the number of commercial banks and the number of savings institutions as of June 30 of the current year and each of the previous 9 years.

The graph displays the total number of offices (home offices and branch offices) for commercial banks and for savings institutions as of June 30 of the current year and each of the previous 9 years.

The chart depicts total assets (expressed in $Billions) of commercial banks and savings institutions as of June 30 of the current year and each of the previous 9 years.

    5. Branch Office Deposits of FDIC-Insured Institutions, by State (29Kb)
The chart presents a state-by-state breakout of insured deposits (expressed in $Billions) held by all commercial bank and savings institution offices in each state as of June 30 of the current year.

    6. Deposits of FDIC-Insured Commercial Banks and Savings Institutions, by Charter Class (10Kb)
The chart presents a breakout of insured deposits according to amount (expressed in $Billions) and percentage of total deposits held by institutions with each of six different possible types charters as of June 30 of the current year. The different types of institutions are: national-chartered commercial banks, state-chartered commercial banks that are Federal Reserve members, state-chartered commercial banks that are not members of the Federal Reserve, federal chartered savings associations, state-charted savings associations supervised by the FDIC, state-chartered savings associations supervised by the Office of Thrift Supervision.

    7. Number of Offices of FDIC-Insured Commercial Banks and Savings Institutions, by Charter Class (10Kb)
The chart displays the total number of offices (home offices and branch offices) for institutions with each of six different possible types of charters as of June 30 of the current year. The different types of institutions are: national-chartered commercial banks, state-chartered commercial banks that are Federal Reserve members, state-chartered commercial banks that are not members of the Federal Reserve, federal chartered savings associations, state-chartered savings associations supervised by the FDIC, state-chartered savings associations supervised by the Office of Thrift Supervision.

    8. Number of Interstate Branches Operated by FDIC-Insured Commercial Banks and Savings Institutions (11Kb)
The chart displays, for five dates of interest, the number of interstate branches of commercial banks and savings institutions. The five dates are: June 30 of the current and previous year; June 1, 1997 (when interstate branching mandated by the Riegle-Neal act became fully effective); September 28, 1994 (when the Riegle-Neal act was enacted); January 9, 1994 (when national banks began to be permitted to establish out-of-state branch offices within 30 miles of their home office).

    9. Number of Multi-State Organizations and Their Share of Total Assets and Total Deposits Held by FDIC-Insured Institutions (11Kb)
The chart displays both the increase in number of multi-State banking organizations and the percentage share of banking industry assets and deposits which these institutions held, year-by-year, as of June 30 of the current year and each of the previous 9 years.

    10. Interstate Branches as a Percent of Total Offices (29Kb)
The chart presents a state-by-state breakout that expresses the number of branch offices in a state that belong to FDIC-insured institutions that are chartered outside of the state as a percentage of the total number of bank and savings institution offices (home offices and branch offices) in the state. The data is as of June 30 of the current year.

    11. Interstate Branch Deposits as a Percent of Total Deposits (29Kb)
The chart presents a state-by-state breakout that expresses the deposits at branch offices in a state that belong to FDIC-insured institutions that are chartered outside of the state as a percentage of all deposits held by bank and savings institution offices (home offices and branch offices) in the state. The data is as of June 30 of the current year.

    12. Interstate Branches of FDIC-Insured Institutions (14Kb)
This chart identifies branch office information for branches that operate outside of the state where the institution is chartered. Data includes the main office (home) state, number of institutions with interstate branches, number of interstate branches and deposits in interstate branches. In addition, a count of the states, as well as a list of those states, are provided by home state.
