The Recovery Month Community Event Television PSAs were generously developed by Odyssey Networks, a Recovery Month Planning Partner as an in-kind contribution that can be used by local organizations and communities year after year.

The Recovery Month television PSAs are available in two formats: The first is a generic PSA that discusses Recovery Month and encourages individuals to visit the Recovery Month website and find a Recovery Month event in their area; The second PSA is customizable with an open ending so that organizations can add in their local Recovery Month event information to promote support and attendance.

Contact your local television station(s) to engage them in your local event and to secure their support in raising awareness about the benefits of treatment and recovery by airing the generic PSA or customizing the open ended PSA with your local event information.

Directions to air the PSA on local television stations

  1. Research local cable access television stations in your area to solicit their support.

Find a cable access channel in your area on our Cable TV Access page.

  2. Contact local cable access to discuss your event and how it helps to raise awareness about the benefits of treatment and recovery. Use the scripts provided by Recovery Month to help you develop your discussion.

Go to our Publicity and Media Interviews page.

  3. Order the Event PSA and save it on a DVD that you can deliver to the television station. Order it via email and be sure to SPECIFY the "Event PSA DVD " in your request. Order it here: Recovery Month 2010 - Contact Us . Provide the television station with the PSA DVD and the information on your event that they will put into the PSA for you. That information should include: the name of the event, the date of the event, the location of the event, contact information for the event such as a website address, email or phone number.

Order the customizable version of the PSA.

Note: To customize the PSA with your event information, it is highly recommended that you secure a television station to customize it for you, or a local video production company.
