The Grants Management Branch (GMB) serves as the business management contact point for administrative and fiscal issues related to NIDCR grants and cooperative agreements. Oversight responsibilities include initial review, National Advisory Council review, pre-award, post-award, and close-out. The Branch also advises scientific program staff, NIDCR senior leadership, and awardees on administration of grant and cooperative agreement programs; provides liaison with other NIH and DHHS organizations and components regarding grant policies and procedures in the administration of extramural assistance awards; processes all NIDCR grant and cooperative agreement awards; and serves as the primary prior approval contact point for changes to awards.

Scientific Review Branch

The Scientific Review Branch coordinates the initial scientific peer review of applications for all center research grants, small research grants, research conference grants, institutional training grants, short-term training grants and fellowship grants, Physician Scientist Awards for Dentists, Dentist Scientist Awards, Requests for Applications issued by the Institute, certain investigator-initiated clinical trials, cooperative agreements, and all proposals for research and development contracts. The NIDCR-directed reviews are carried out by the NIDCR Special Grants Review Committee, a chartered scientific initial review group, which can be supplemented by ad hoc consultants as well as by peer review groups (Special Emphasis Panels) convened especially for certain categories of applications and proposals. The Scientific Review Branch coordinates, conducts and monitors project site visits, applicant interviews and all other aspects of the peer review process.
